Blood Sprint is a Social Venture that helps hospitals, charities and other organizations involved in blood donation manage blood supplies.

The free app is designed to make just-in-time blood supply a reality.

Managing Blood Resources and donations is a massive undertaking for healthcare providers and organizations globally. For example, in order to meet the demand for blood in a metropolitan area like Seattle, the local Blood Services need to have about 250,000 registered donors and more than a 1000 people donating Blood each and every week. To make matters worse, blood supplies only last about 4 weeks, with the viability of blood for critical procedures like heart surgery decreasing dramatically as it ages.

Blood Sprint is a free application designed to simplify the process of engagement with donors and provide hospitals and charities a location-based, viral platform to attract new donors.

The original idea for Blood Sprint was called ‘Red Heart’ and it was invented as a part of an idea challenge Apps for Change in Nokia’s idea crowdsourcing service, IdeasProject.

Red Heart saw the daylight in Nokia World 2011; it is designed by Closertag and implemented by Viafo.

It is coming soon on a number of platforms so anyone, anywhere can now use Blood Sprint to give hope and save lives.
